Speedometer
Alright, so I was driving back from Futureshop and I noticed that my speedometer stopped working, even though it was working when I left.
The next morning I get up for school and the speedometer starts working again. It worked for a couple of days. Now again, one morning I drove it and it stopped working and hasn't been working for about a week. I have no idea where to start looking for problem and I'd appreciate any input (I'm not much of a car guy, but not completely oblivious to it all either, lol). Oh, my car is a 1989 Toyota MR2 SC, lol. |

Does it make any funny noises when it is not working?

My speedo just started acting up also. I hear a clicking sound where the needle is. It seems to be moving slowly, and it stops at 40. Could the needle in the dash be loose or sticking?

No, there is no funny noises and now it just doesn't move at all.
I'm wondering if it's just a loose cable, too. How would I go about looking on the back of the speedo? |

Disconect the transmission end and hook up a drill to the cable inside the sleeve and start spining the cable.See from there if your problem is in the gauge, cable or before the cable.

Best advice from Dacia. Make sure to spin it both ways; I don't remember which way is correct, but only one way works. Try Rockauto for the speedo cable. |
