Need Info Quick!

I found a GREAT deal on a NA mk2 close to where I live, but before I buy it(or someone else does), I need to know a couple things: Where is the oil filter located, how easy is it to change the oil, what's the safety like on these cars, and where's the radiator? Any info is much appreciated.

The radiator is located in the front behind the front bumper. The oil filter is in front of motor under exhaust, if engine is cooled down its easy to change. Safety, well they are a small car but they take a hit in a crash pretty good. They are some articles in forum (I think) showing a few crashes and the drivers were fine afterwards.

Safety wise you're much better off than a lot of modern smaller cars.....most wrecks come from inexperienced drivers, and they typicly walk away.

Ok, cool. I also noticed these bracket things that were lower down in the engine bay, up against the wall that separates the engine from the passenger compartment. What are they for?

...there are a couple of things like that down there. Some of the studs are for things like the heat shields and under body panels.....

They are a little tight... cables are long and have a snug spring at linkage on top of valve cover.

depends on what 2.2 na

most common is a 3s-ge but you can get the eco model a 3s-fe.

3s-ge nothing other then the engine around 750-1k

3s-fe not really worth it but around 500 id say

The 2.2 5sfe that came in all USDM MR2 NA's are very cheap and it's quite possible to get one for free. If you had to replace the 5sfe in your MR2, I would either swap in a 3sge(NA) or 3sgte(Turbo).

5sfe 2.2 - 135hp
3sge 2.0 - gen2=160hp, gen3=180hp, gen4=200hp

3sgte turbo gen3 puts you at 240ponies..

The 2.2l n/a motor that's in the US models you can get for free or cost of shipping very regularly.

How easy would it be to install a 3sge? How much would each different gen cost? Btw, I bought the car today and absolutely love it. Between installing a 3sge and a V6, which one should I do? Thanks

3rd Gen installment

How hard would it be to drop in a 3rd generation 3sge? Would it fit to the tranny I have now?

you should really consider what you are getting yourself into with an engine swap... it's a lot of work and headaches.
