The adjustor is under the intercooler, bolted to the left center area above the wheel.
There's even a small thumscrew adjustor for your convenience. You'll notice there is two 1/4 in rubber hoses to to the back of the s/c trottle assembly from this adjustor. Check for holes etc they decompose alot. By switching the lines you can reverse the action of the switch by the way. Took me alot of crap to find this myself. Cool motoring, mr2tim |

A/C idle adjustment
I found the A/C idle solonoid...turned the thumbscrew all the way in and out..no change in idle...I checked the hoses...they seem fine...tried switching the hoses and the A/C idle increases...but the non A/C idle is then too high....adjusting the idle at the throttle body only makes it right one way.....
I uunscrewed the adjustment screw and made sure it was clean...it threads fully in and out....Bad solonoid switch? |

It could be the switch. You need to unplug the switch and test it for voltage.
Take a test light or a volt meter and test for voltage and a ground. |

There is also a "Idle -up System" shown in the BGB (page FI-119 in the 88 book). Not sure if that's connected to the a/c circuit or not. It shows a VSV that can be tested. Check that for correct air flow and that both vacum lines are connected. That valve is easy to break (AMHIKT
). |

OK THEN, KEEP GOING!
MIGHT TRY SWAPING THE HOSE LOCATIONS? (THIS REVERSES ADJUSTMENT) CHECK HOSES WHEN CAR IS RUNNING TO VERIFY THEY ARE NOT PLUGGED AT THE ENGINE END AND ARE FUNCTIONING/FLOWING? PERFORM VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE INSPECTION ON THAT NEW VSV YOU JUST BOUGHT DUDE, WHO KNOWS?. IT'S AN ELECTRICALLY POWERED SWITCH. IT'S ON PAGE AC-43. CHECK THAT VSV CONNECTOR FOR CONTINUITY ON BOTH WIRES (WRITE ME IF YOU NEED PICTURES OF THE SERVICE MANUAL AND I'LL SEND 'EM ALONG.) KEEP US POSTED ON HOW YOU DO. GOOD LUCK, HANG IN THERE. |

Mr2Tim where are you located in SoFla? I am in Miami.....I do not have a manual on the car...I inherited it from a close friend that died recently.
is there a connection at the A/C compressor that sends a signal? I recently had the A/C repaired which included a rebuilt compressor. Lance (lrsm2@aol.com) |

IRSM2, there is also an a/c amplifier switch under the front dash (left side behind glove box). I had a guy totally screw up my a/c because he couldn't make it stay on with the 86 n/a amplifier. When I hooked up an 88SC amplifier switch the a/c worked and the car idled. I don't know if that has anything to do with your problem, but hopefully that helps.
