i believe you can use a header from the ae86 4age and those you can get aftermarket.

It's the same engine, so they should fit.

Nope the AE86's, or the corolla GTS, had the 4AGE.

the header will bolt up the only thing Im not sure about is a clearance issue. because the ae86 was a rwd car. altho the ae92 (late 80s early 90s corrolla gts) has a fwd mounted 4age that one should work no issues at all best I can say for 100% is to goto scrap yard and do what I do. Use thier cars for testing. pull the header from an ae86 or an ae92 and hope you can find an mr2 mk1 and try to put it on

JRS_MisterTwo: if you need a 5s-fe header look for a 90's model celica as long as your in U.S. the econo versions (st or gt) came with a 5s-fe instead of the earlier 3s-fe. But dont get a gts header as the engine is a 3s-ge.

The header from a ae86 will work. In MR2OC.Com, a person with the user name jimmer411 is using one. I talked to him and this is what I got. Hope he doesn't mind:
"The corolla header is a perfect fit, kinda tight squeezin by the distributer heatshield but other than that a perfect bolt up. I did have to extend my o2 sensor wire and have the exhaust shop weld up a elbow to connect it to my cat. O2 sensor is on downpipe rather than manifold." -- Jimmer(man) So as soon as I start to work on my 2. This will be one of my mods. |

The AW11 MR2's already have that kind of manifold that performs well as does a header.
I've read on several sites and web pages that putting on headers on the AW11 will give you minimal performance boost. You can feel it, but it's nothing real big. I've had headers on my AW11 but changed to back to the stock manifold. The main difference is the tone of the car's exhaust. There's no more deep rubbling tone that you can get from from a header. I also felt a small power lost ... but the car is still very fast. The header itself was a custom job. Even though it bolted on perfectly fine and everything, you had to 'poke' a hole near the top of the header and weld a tube from there to the EGR valve .. if you plan on DD the car or keeping it on the streets legally. |

The celica gts uses a different engine type than the AW11 .. unless you're talking about the SW20 and the later celicas that uses the same engine as it. So the header wouldn't fit or match up correctly.
In that case, I don't have any experience there. |
