Holy Cow
Well no one is going to belive this, so I recently blew a head gasket . The shop wanted to chrage me 1850$ to fix it, which is more than I paid for it so I told the where to shove it and had it towed to my house and with help from some of you and a couple of friends I rebuilt it with a 160$ kit, after about a week sleepless nights I get it alll back together and right as I fire it up for the first time just to see if it turns over (before it is all put back together, top timing belt cover included)
A little bolt the size of your pinky nail falls right down in the timing belt! It only had time to make maybe three rotations before a killed the motor. So after a week of turning wrenches, I had to spend my weekend changing out the timing belt which if you have ever done this you know what a pain it is. Just figured I would share that with people that might understand. Hey it is runing now and besides the bottom end I think I can damn near take the whole damn thing apart and put it back together. thanks again guys for the help in fixing it! |

I know where you're coming from. On my first MR2, it had the 5sfe, so I decided to swap in a 3sgte. Like an idiot, I didn't get the full clip, I just got a 3sgte from a Celica All-trac. So, after spending months tracking down parts and discovering countless little differences between each motor, I finally get it running. It runs for 2 weeks, then blows up. I had a shop fix the engine, then it ran great for 2 more weeks, and then, the turbo disintegrates... literally. The exhaust turbine, being ceramic, shattered and was completely gone. I suddenly had absolutely no boost. That was the last time that car saw the light of day.
My second MR2, a turbo with over 250,000 miles, ran only slightly faster than an NA, and was in poor condition overall. So I'm driving it (hey, at least it's a 2!), and a month later, some *******s steal it. Gone forever... I feel your pain, heh. |

I would have just flipped my wig. Not that it would have done any good. But hell with an Italian-Irish temper what would you expect. Just know that he trade center wouldn't have held a candle to what I would have done to the jerk that stole it (regardless of its was like before hand).
