Well it depends what the temperature is but in the summer here its liek 25-35C so i use
mobil tri-sythetic 0W-30 and for the winter i go for just like a castrol sythetic 5W-30
cause im in canada we got cold ass winters that sometimes goes as low as 40F or 40C same thing and alot of peoples cars dont start

you need to find out if he switched it to Synthetic or not. because if you go back to regular you'd have some issues.... try the best you can to get back in contact with the guy

How many miles are on the engine? THAT should make a difference in your decision to go with petroleum or synthetic. Amsoil 10w-30 is my oil of choice. Most of us who are synthetic users don't think of using anything else in our MR2s or any other vehicle. Some have already mentioned Mobil 1 and Castrol Syntech, but based on repeatable test results, Amsoil is better in every category. I've using it since 1977.

Castrol Syntec euro formula seems to be one of the best on the market, but not everyone carries it. Found it at Pep Boys but not Autozone or Advanced either one. I run 10w-30 as well and I'm in NC.
