Can SC clutch rust shut? No SC light?
Been some time since I turned over the car and could not get the SC light to come on under WOT (wide open throttle) like it says in the service book.
I know the little green SC dash lite works cause it comes on at the start up like it's supposed to. I checked the SC relay, it had continuity in the right places and clicked like it should when when battery voltage was applied. The ohmmeter gave me the right output (3.5-3.9 ohms) from the magnet in the SC clutch (wires under the overflow tank) so it was/is OK. While I blimped the throttle I noticed the usually freewheeling inside hub part of the SC clutch was allways spinning the same as the rest of the clutch that's driven by the belt. (allways engaged, I guess?) Any body ever run into this problem? I'm contemplating using "blaster" on this problem to hopefully disolve the rust but just wanted to ask around to see if any other owners have ever resolved this particular problem? And how? Pulling tyhe SC unit is such a uh..inconvenience... |
