Question question about a key???

do you have to have a title to get a key made by toyota?

You should probably call toyota and see how far back they keep that info. I dont remember for sure, but i keep thinking that that info only goes back to 90.

If they can't do it, you should be able to remove the door lock (or ignition), and take it to a competent locksmith, and he'll be able to cut you a master from the tumbler pattern.

I took a local locksmith, my non-matching trunk lock, and my driver-side door lock, he cut a new master to match the door lock and ignition, and rekeyed the trunk to match teh new master, all for about $40 dollars. So those are a couple of options.

If you take out the door lock cylinder and take it to a locksmith I doubt youd need a title. But if you just go to a dealership and give them a vin # w/ no title I doubt they would cut a key. If they would I think that would be pretty f'd up because just about anyone can go up to a car and get a vin and take it to get a key made that way.

no, i just brought him the lock. He worked his magic on it. it fit better than the one i got from the PO
