Clutch composition Mk1 NA factory clutch

i'm looking at getting the clutch replaced on my 87 NA mr2, and the workshop i've spoken too (i asked if i could get something a bit better than the factory clutch) said that a heavy duty pressure plate and an organic clutch would be better than the factory one. When i asked "isn't the factory clutch organic too?" the reply was "it's fabric"

I don't want to seem like a doubting thomas, as the workshop/mechanic i spoke to is an mr2 guru with years of experience, but i've never heard of a "fabric" clutch. Anyone confirm if this is true? i don't want to end up getting charged thru the nose for what could potentially be a standard clutch....

I looked up OEM clutch pads and at NAPA and Schucks they are both organic...
