What color is the smoke? Black smoke would be a rich condition. White smoke would be burning oil caused by leaking valve seals or worn piston rings. How many miles does your car have?

Many times WOT is the breeding ground for blown head gaskets to show their face.
I have a BHG on my 86, but only see white smoke (burning coolant) near WOT due to the higher compression typically, black = burning oil white = burning coolant |

I can't imagine you having worn piston rings after only 130K miles. Valve seals may have hardened over the years though, letting some oil seep into the combustion chamber.

"2.11 Where is that Exhaust Leak?
More than likely you have the #4 cylinder cracked manifold problem. Quite often, the exhaust manifold will crack right by the #4 cylinder, causing the exhaust leak. It could also be loose EGR bolt or a rusted out muffler. " - Credits : AW11 FAQ |

No it wont, but it will prevent ignition of the AFR mix you get into the cylinder
![]() Rich is when there's too much fuel injected into the cylinder putting the AFR out of whack. What you're talking about is just a lack of ignition. |
