swaying problems

I have an '86 with pretty bad swaying problems. anytime I take a corner or any sort of turning the car sways really badly. I'm trying to figure out if this is a problem with suspension or possibly something else. any help would be great, thanks.

Add to the above, tires too tall, worn shocks.

My Google Map

Just had this problem on my 88 I found the adjustable rod of toe in/out on the left side had a reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally rooted rubber bushing. I had about 1/2 inch of side play in the wheels when i checked them Check your back wheels by checking for play in all directions. Also give the wheel a spin and listen to the wheel bearing, if it sounds real bad it could be the cause.

Here here! Had the same on my AW11SC. Really nerve wrecking in long corners. Totally flogged out bush on tow rod, which caused this swaying your talking about. Almost felt like the rear of the car was making an elliptical swaying motion. Totally go for the bush inspection!

Forgive me if this bit is a waffle, i'd be interested to hear opinions. I believe the reason is MR2 rear tow is adjusting dynamically as you drive. As it squats into and out of corners, the correct tow is met by the geometry of it's suspension allowing for enough tire scrub to aid in "sticking the rear down" As mine back then was doing crazy ellipses, I think the play caused by the worn bush allowed the rear at high ish frequency to steer in steer out steer in steer out etc...
