Question Blue MkIs with t-tops

Hi,

New here. I have owned three MkIs, all '85's. The first was white, and was stolen and stripped soon after I got it. The insurance bought me the nicest Red one, that I enjoyed for years until it was totaled, and me nearly with it. Then a brief time with a silver car that my wife managed to wreck.....

Now I am beginning the search for a fourth. There was only one other color in '85, and I like it.

What was the exact name of that metallic blue?

While I really prefer the lines of the first year car, with a minimum of ground effects and the black bumper sections, I want a t-top car.

What years did the t-top get painted the same blue, if at all?

I'm definitely interested in a silver-top or black-top swap, so a tired engine will not concern me. A clean body and interior would be more important to me.

I expect to need to keep my eyes open for over a year to find the right car, hopefully that would do it.

no, it wore off before i got it. it's a shame too because it was repainted at some point and the factory paint was peeking through in a few spots and it was pretty shiny underneath.

TBH, I think that is an awesome color with or without clear coat. Clear coat is a huge hassle to deal with when it isn't properly maintained, but it does help protect the paint under it. Just make sure you have some wax on it to help prevent fading and you should be fine.
