What size are you looking for (I'm not famililar with MK1 sizes) ?
Check out Tirerack.com, I've bought most of my tires from them. Even after shopping around, they usually end up being the cheapest, or very competitive in their pricing. I do live only 100 miles away so I end up getting them 1 day after being shipped UPS ground. There are a number of Bridgestone winter tires available on their size. 14" tire sizes are roughly $60-70 depending on model each. Shipping is usually $6-10 depending on your location. That would be closer to $280 for the set, and find a local shop for install, $50. |

Legally? Cause there are stacks of tyres around that don't meet specific standards when cars come into the country and real cheap. You've just got to find who is stripping them and dumping them, say you want cheap tyres for your farm hack and say pretty please and you might get some. Mine were $30 a pop but they are competition gravel/snow tyres with tread you can put your finger into, who knows whay a car would be imported on them but I benifited from it. They are way safer than the almost bald 185 fail tyres I had on the car, they scared me too much.
