Wont fire up, was stalling and starting, now DEAD!

I have a 1985, I would be driving and it would stall out, after sitting for 10 min or so it would fire back up.

Well Yestarday I got in her and took off and it stalled out 1 mile from home but wouldnt fire back up.

Its getting fuel, turning over, seems like no spark, I put a lite tester inline with the coil and no lights......

tried to read the code and it just blinks 3 times fast..

Replaced coil this morning, same deal..

Sorry to be long winded but never had major issues with her in the past 23 years.

thanks
Rodney

Your ignitor is out, or disconnected. That's what that code you're describing is at least, and it seems to match your problem. I'm not sure if the ignitor is integrated or a seperate part on the MK1. Someone else on here can give you more detail.

Kind of ******, because ignitors are fairly expensive, at least for the MK2.

go to Club4AG - Tuned Toyota Automobile Enthusiasts
register
and start scanning the classifieds. There was one guy on there with about 10 mkI igniters for sale, and they were cheap. something like $10 a piece I think.

Have you tested the plugs and wires for spark yet? If you get nothing, just continue working your way back from there until you find whatever isn't working.

You mentioned you have no spark at the coil, if you did I would suggest the rotor inside the dizzy.

Have you checked all your fuses?

I would check the rotor anyway very overlooked and causes alot of weird issues when they start failing only like a $4 part. I put a new one on my car every few years or so.
