My 86 mr2 manual window is getting weak. I'm having to put more force on the final crank to get it to seal properly. Is there a write up on how to fix this? this would be helpful.

I may have seen a write up on this some years ago, but can't remember where. Try googling various terms and see what you get.
That being said, the BGB or other repair manual, will describe what needs to be done. I myself have readjusted this to good effect, but it takes some patience. Ideally the last crank of the handle raises the back top edge of the window up more than it does the front top edge. There are adjustment/stopper points within the window assembly that control this. The rear upper edge of the window is supposed to move a specified additional amount, if I recall correctly. I also took it upon myself to add a washer/spacer to the rear part of this window assembly, which allowed me to tilt the rear section of the window in against the upper t-top (in my case) rubber door seal. Once you take off the door panel and remove the inner plastic water seal, it is, I believe, rather apparent which parts of the window assembly need to be adjusted, and it could all be done by reasonable judgment. Adjust things a little at a time, then close the door, roll up the window, and see how things fit. I definitely got rid a of a bit of wind noise after doing this, and the door closed more soundly (less rattle), but, unfortunately, I did not get rid of the slight water leak. T-top eccentric guides took care of that as it appeared this is caused by seal shrinkage at the point where the t-top seals and door frame seals meet. |
