What do you guys think

Okay so I park my car last night (never had any problems with it very well maintained) and come out this morning and all I get is a Click from the starter engine doesnt even turn over. Battery is basically new (about 4 months) a jump start did nothing.

Do you think its the starter. I have never replaced this part (on this car), I will be doing this tonight but just curious to hear thoughts in the mean time. I have never had one die and just click before. I have had one strip teeth and just spin but never just click.

Tap the starter with a hammer and see if it turns over. If it does start to turn over then its your starter thats the problem.

Also if you didn't have a check engine light when you first turn the key it won't crank either. If you don't get the CEL it is a distribitor then.

if it is the starter.....

do not go to your local kragen, autozone, pep boys, etc. probably the only chain store i would buy a starter or alternator from is Napa.

i say this because when you get that "lifetime replacement warranty", it just means that you will constantly be replacing the starter for your lifetime. your best bet would be to check your local yellow pages and find a starter/alternator shop that rebuilds them. have them do a rebuild using qaulity parts. or just buy a new one from a dealer$hip.

also, if it is the starter, make sure you've got the heatshield on when the new one goes in place, or your exhaust will cook the new starter.

Check your ground wires. All the engine to chasis grounds, and the struttower to negative terminal ground.
