I suppose it would work but if you are boosting the car should be moving anyway. They are not the most effective of intercoolers but they do work. It would have to push air up and out so it is in tune with where the air goes when the speed gets up. If you are serious you can run an intercooler in the trunk that vents through a hole in the trunk floor and then directs the air out a grill under the spoiler. I've seen that done but that was a 4agte running high boost.

so it would be best to put the fan under it and blow the air out from undernieth it. here is the issue i was going to use the stock mounting place for the levin gtz. which is on the valve cover i dont believe the fan will fit under it. oh well ill see what happens.

Yeah it is reverse to what people think cause the air draws up so forcing it down would fight the natural flow. You could still have the fan on top if you want one just make it draw air through the intercooler using a shroud rather than blowing air. I think drawing air is more effective than pushing air anyway.

I'm running a 7 inch (I believe 7) spal under my intercooler, but yeah you'll have a problem with that with the newer style S/C motors that mount the intercooler in a different location.

well i was planning on building a custom engine lid to fit all of this junk and hopefully it will create some kind of vacuum that sucks more air through the intercooler.

I was going to make a lid out of plexi glass and just cut the spot out where the fan would be. then you can mask off a design with tape then sand every thing down with rough sandpaper and put lights in the engine bay if wont (I wouldn't) if done right I think it would look cool. and be effective. |

Do you have a spare n/a engine cover. I was thinking that you could cut out the slots off the n/a hood then cut out where your intercooler is then weld the n/a hood slots in place to create a place for the air to flow through. As long as the intercooler doesn't stick up too far that is. Behold my paint skills. You would have to cut the ridge between them out but it wouldn't too hard to get done.
