Anyone done this?

I have been having a quick look at pics of peoples mkI's and I haven't really noticed anyone else with window strips like mine. I think they look awesome on my dark car. The pic is in the dimly lit garage with a gay camera but you get the idea.

Uhhh...? I don't get it. I don't see what you're referring to. Maybe i'm blind, but everything looks perfectly normal to me.

The chrome around the window? My car had it. But it's all faded except for a little bit here and there. I'm not a big fan of chrome. I'm hoping the rest of it flakes off.

Yeah I meant the chrome strips. It is not a good picture but everyone elses are that satin black colour. Mine are bright chrome and really highly polished and everyone keeps asking why. None of my other cars have it but where the paint has chipped I can see it underneath. I'm guessing someone did this to it at some time in its past possibly when it got resprayed.

Chrome is a very nice color. One of my favorites. However on my white car black is a much better accent color. Which is why I think the previous owner painted over the chrome trim. Some of the paint is chipping off to reveal the chrome underneath. I'll touch it back up one of these days.

I think it looks good on a dark car, it is a good accent like Maticuno said about his 2. I don't think that it would match my red cars though. I just wondered why it has them and if anyone else did as well. The car has a dark history, it had some ghetto mods when I brought it but I got rid of those and made it nice again but I left the chrome alone.

My silver NA 89 has the same black painted chrome around the door too. I was thinking it had been touched over by the PO, but now think it was Toyota deciding the chrome didn't look so hot and painted it black.

It's like it's been blasted off only in a few places by the wind hitting it for 145K miles.

Has anyone repainted their trim, and if so what with?
