VIN number location/getting concerned now

Went to get some panel work done on my MR2 (aussie delivered 12/87 manufactured)

They asked for the VIN (vehicle identification number) which is usually located on one of the plates along with chassis# blah di blah...

Couldn't find it in the normal spots.
Where is the VIN located on a MK1?
Tried a few other spots, i'm now beginning to be concerned this is a car that has been written off previously

Any help greatly appreciated.....

My Google Map

Mine is located on a metal plate on the driver's side door. It's attached where the doors meets the rear of the car.

On mine there is a little plate with the vin on the dash in front of the steering wheel where most cars have it. I think I saw it somewhere in the frunk also.

There should also be one on each door just above where the latch goes into it.
