clutch plate/cover

Uhm, I was changing my oil in my mr2 and noticed the back of the clutch is bare. It pops out on the back side of the engine a bit. I was wondering if it originally had some sort of protective plate over the back of it? Or if it's always like that? If it does need one are they very hard to find? thanks!

its the flywheel you are seeing.. Yes there should be a plate cover under there to protect it from debreessss getting there messing up the flywheel/clutch.

Mine was missing when I bought the car. So I took a piece of sheet metal and fabbed one up. It was only a slight PIA.
