want to sell my 1985 75K miles!
Hi. Sellling my parents' 85 Mr2 that has been sitting in the garage for years. Great shape, runs great and only 75 original miles (one owner)! I'm in SF bay Area. Not sure how much we should expect to get...sounds like perhaps there is a market for enthusiasts???

Reason there are a number of enthusiasts for these cars, is because of the budget they fit into. Sounds like you might have a nice 'barn fresh' car, depending on what the car has greatly changes the value. No sunroof is actually more desirable in that year.
Ever region is different in regards to the value of the car, I wouldn't expect much more than 3-4k depending on condition. |

MR2 enthusiasts are occasionally labeled as being cheap. Despite this, keeping the listing on enthusiast boards will probably net more cash than selling the car in a generic classified. |

Yes but they will spend up to three times the cars value in parts or upgrades.
Now, I am not saying to part the car at all, but I am just pointing out the irony that the car as a whole is worth "little to nothing" but then once the MR2 devil gets in the buyers soul, they will sink more money in it that originally paid for it and have far more in the car than it will ever sell for. Which is why anyone who will buy a MR2 should know it will be a HOBBY and never be an investment. Parts are where the money is made. |

So we're all idiots, right? I paid premium for mine and have absolutely no regrets. All the stuff I've done to the car since then has cost me about $5k. I now have close to $12k in the car. But I like it way better than anything else I would have $12k.
So by the time I got my '86 home I had about $6,500 in it. Include sales tax, processing fees, bla, bla, bla...also including my expenses to go 600 miles to get it. Mine had 42k ish miles on it. The selling price was like $5,600. The most I would pay for an '85 w/ 75K is probably $5k (in mint condition). I really don't give a s__t what the book says these cars are worth. The car is worth what someone is willing to pay. PERIOD. |

Well, it seems the original poster hasn't re-posted, so if they're checking this... have a list-price yet?
