I bet he's between 8k-10k, and yeah...they sadly do still go for that depending on condition. People are either looking for straight-clean-stock, or modded and done right. Either way will fetch a lot of cash... Thanks Initial D, for ruining a cheap and fun sports car for the simple man... cause everyone on earth wants that GTS hatchback now. And granted, I did too, and I got mine. Thing is, I wanted it WAY before this anime craze over it hit. I want a RHD one for the sake of having it really. Cause I want one tuned and pretty, show quality....and then I want one to track and beef up, and not care so much if I scratch or dent a fender ya know? Last RHD AE86 I saw, the owner was asking for 12k, and honestly, if I had 12k, I would have bought it... heh

Sidenote, I'm a little pissed that winter wont let us go...cause its gonna storm apparently down here, just as it was warming up and I was getting really ready to crank away on the MR2... damn...

Hey thanks for checking into the ae86 market in canada. That red hatch is amazingly clean, and yeah...believe it or not, 5k for that is totally reasonable really.

ya thats the one, i think its ridiculous, all it is, is people buying those cars to keep and sell later as a collectors item.

I think that the whole idea that you'd be able to sell that car for 10 grand is ridiculous. You can get NICE supercharged aw11's for less than that, there's a gorgeous white 88 or 89 supercharged for sale in vancouver for 6 grand, i'm in love with it....

Oh and you think your weather is bad? It just hit -30 celcius here MAN IT'S COLD

For all you americans, that's -25 degrees farenhieght and I'd take stormy over ultra cold any day!

And yes, my car did start Without the use of my block heater (cause forgot to plug 'er in)

theres a busted to hell GTS coupe in Vancouver BC that I want terribly...just for parts basically, cause the exterior is rusted and bashed like mad. He's been ice racing it lol. but his interior is wicked clean... BC is 25-27 hours away from me, and he won't part it out... :-( I just REALLY want his front seats hahaha Damn...

hoping the weather clears up a bit tonight, because I've got a lot of parts cleaning to do on the MR2. you guys saw, the TB is off, and awaiting a good scrubbing. I also need to figure out whats up with the throttle, cause I've been trying to chase the slack and it looks like the black vapor can looking thing its attached to right under the bonnet cover has it snapped at the rubber... I'll have to take pics of it and show you guys, cause honestly I have no true idea what its called. updates coming soon!!!! this mr2 is a STRUGGLE. but a fun one!

I've always made my own TB gaskets, buy a big roll of gasket paper and it will last forever. It is useful stuff. I used an icecream container lid as a TB gasket once because I had just enough paper and I ripped it so had to drive to the store but had no car so cut a quick one out and drove to the shop and then home again. It actually worked well but went all soft as the engine had started to heat up.

cleaned up the TB as well as I can... There's still no return on the spring... and it has me concerned, friday its going back on the car and we'll give it a shot... *sigh* we'll see... I don't want to have to spend another $250 or so for a new idle speed control valve...

I'm also really concerned about the slack on the throttle cable and the loose gas pedal feel... I've traced it back and it overall, seems pretty straight.
I'm not used to working in such amazingly cramped spaces, and that engine bay is a chore.. I should hire a damned Keebler Elf to do my engine work...

I'm excited, I made my own gaskets last night, and I'm gonna be putting it back on tonight and see what if anything comes of it. The spring tension on the throttle body itself is now back to normal. Any and all grease that was gumming it up has been removed. It's about as "new" as it can be...I just hope the idle speed control is alright, because I really don't want to buy another... if its not gonna turn over after this, the motor gets pulled and the build starts. Top Gear couldn't kill a Toyota, and I sure hope I can't either...

I have an SC TB with the Mr2 specific aluminum elbow that goes on top of it. It is in good condition.

I sent you (Buckhead) a private message a few days ago in response to your post below this one.

UPDATE:

I can do no more...Motor gets pulled this Saturday, and the shell goes to my girlfriends dad's house, for a possible 20v swap, or an Electric AW11 conversion. I'm losing too much time on my motor build if I plan to make good on my appearance promises for a boosted AE86 in the summer and fall. I need every day I have to make sure the work gets done, and gets done right for my 86 build.

The MR2 dream is not dead. The remainder of this car will be very useful to me. I haven't given up on the AW11, and happen to love it. But I need to face facts. I bought the car for the motor, and right now, its only the motor that I need. Time to rip the 'ol girl's heart out...

If anyone needs certain parts that I won't be using for my 86 build from the AW11, please let me know or email me directly at chrissjoberg@yahoo.com
State the parts you need, shoot me a reasonable offer, plus shipping, and include all needed info, and we'll work it out.

Thanks for your help and advice guys! I'll be working on becoming a constant on this forum, as it's served me well. If anyone's interested in the build, I'm going to be starting build threads on Club4AG for my 86, and the aw11 when the time comes. Updates and links will be posted here. Thanks again!

heh, yeah...it pains me...

but...

It's why I bought the car. I need the gze, the car was dirt cheap...far cheaper than a 4agze on it's own. Sacrifice ya know...?
