um....
I wouldn't feel sad AT ALL about selling it, based on it's condition, not sad at all. If you didn't buy it just for it's engine, then someone else would have. |

yeah shes a rough one....ain't pretty at all. I'd like to auto-x her...but I dunno....just need the motor...
ya know, there's a saying that goes, "You can't polish a turd." and as much as I believe thats true, I always think I can make something awesome out of something a little rough...kinda like that MR2. I think its smart to just cut my losses, take the motor, and get what I can for the rest. Last edited by Buckethead; 03-18-2009 at 05:03 PM.. |

ahhh see, you say you're kidding, but you'd do it!
I don't see myself making money on this beast, but who knows... My buddy in california has seen the same pics, and says even in that condition, he bets I could find a buyer for it at around a grand...and I just can't honestly believe that. Are AW11's that rare in cali? somehow I doubt that... |

I don't know, but i've seen adds for aw11's in vancouver that are running for 800 to 1500 CAD. But haven't actually seen them in person (being i don't live there) so can't comment on their condition.

Does your friend smoke crack but honestly if it still had the 4agze in it you could definately get a grand or more regardless of the exterior condition but in that condition with no motor and everything SC related removed i doubt it. If someone is willing to give you 1k sell it fast![]() GL. |

Yeah thats where I'm at. And honestly, the car complete with the motor, when I bought it, was SUCH a good deal...I really can't "lose" money on it. If I gave the car away, I'd still be able to look at it as getting a 4agze for a really good deal. I just want to begin my motor build...lots to do...lots to do...

Motor is out of the car, and she sits without a heart in my driveway. The build begins now! 4AGZTE!

I have quite a few pics taken right now... they're on my facebook I can link em here tonight.
By the way, apparently I went against all known laws of physics... the motor came out through the top, no damage done, alternator, exhaust mani, and supercharger still on it when pulled.... I've been telling people that, and good thing I got pics of it, cause no one seems to believe me lol ![]() |

And the rear window is still in tact. Did you worry about that or did you just pull and be glad you didnt hit that window?

it most certainly crossed my mind... but its not nearly as hard as people seemed to make it sound. in fact, if it were an NA 4age, i imagine it would be a piece of cake to pull that motor. the supercharger was a huge hold up for me, because of that long bolt on the lower end of the mount. not really a good angle to get at it. i cant say im terribly surprised at the outcome....when someone tells me i can't do something, or something's impossible, thats just fantastic motivation to prove them wrong!
![]() it would have been damn near impossible, if it wasn't for that load leveler on the engine hoist. that things a lifesaver... on the fly tilting and adjusting of the motor as i raised it allowed me to raise, balance, lower, adjust, and raise again... took a while, but its totally possible. |

wow, didn't know you could do that, and looking at it if you took off the exhaust manifold and distributor (which is of course super easy to do) you'd have it out even easier especially with a 4age since the alternator is on the intake side.
EDIT: Oh and that engine just looks plain nasty! needs a good clean ![]() |

i expected about that much...
I have a hard time seeing you building that engine up and not getting up nice and clean ![]() And oh ya, don't have an a/c unit on my car so it would be even easier LOL So between all that being gone (a/c, exhaust, dist, and alternator on the other side) my engine'd have 1/3 less width at any given spot. |

well damn, all that considered, id say taking the motor up through the top, with a little extra care and time given, is a lot easier than even tackling those 12 cv joint hex bolts....those things were hell on wheels to go after, and they ended up being the factor that pushed me to take it out the top. eh, to each their own i suppose.

There's a place in Crystal called Blockhead Engine Machines. I'm looking into them, they're pretty affordable really, and from what I've seen they do quality work. I'm open to other ideas if you know of any better shops. Not a ton for this kinda thing in MN....its all v8's and rat rods around here it seems. oh, and a CRAPTON of hondas... ick
