High Idle
Hello, I have had my MK1 for about 4 months yet, and have not been able to get the idle tuned down yet. It revs about 3 to 3 1/2. What can I do to make it idle a lot lower.

Don't buy a new one unless you have to, they're probably not too cheap. |

Well I turned down the idal screw and got it down to 2000, but I don't think that is low enough, is it? I higured it should be down under 1,000. Like I said I am very new to MK1's and MR2's , so where are the Vacume lines? Can someone take a pick and point out where and what I should be looking for. Thanks you all for all your help, that is one thing I have found that I love about MR2's the owners are a very tight nit group and very helpful. I have to say that I love my car and plan to restore it and rework the engine. It had an 85 engine swap about 6,000 miles ago and really runs great. There are some small things that need attention, but over all it is in great shape. I also want to put racing seats in it, what would you gays recomend? Once more that you all for all of your help, Mark.

The vacuum lines are all those little black (usually but sometimes people put colored ones in) rubber tubes that run around the engine, they come out of the throttle body and intake, and there are some underneath the intake that control the t-vis.
Also i believe a leaking pcv system could cause it? Not really sure though, but a leaky pcv would kind of be a vacuum leak wouldn't it? |
