Dude

You gotta stop eating in your car Ghost! I just cleaned mine up and took most of this morning since I don't clean it that often. Now I'm tired and that meet looks good, but I already have plans and still have to fix stuff on my car. Plus it's way out of the way from LA for me. Are there any meets in LA and what do they normally consist of?

Creativity is a good thing, but I think the OEM boot may still be available brand new from Toyota. I do know that MkII shift boots are easily available, in the $30 range with the discount I give MR2 owners, but I don't remember checking for MkI boots in a while. You guys can shoot me an email or post a thread in my vendor forum if you'd like me to check, or just ask me to in this thread and I'll get the notification when you do.

I know we MkI owners are cheapskates (and I am among the worst), but if spending a few dollars extra saves a few hours of driving around looking for stuff and trying to make it work, it may be worthwhile .

Hey can you check, I want to know if those still exist from Toyota for the MK1. And do you have any pictures of the oem, I would like to see what they look like too. As for being cheap, I wouldn't assume that for everyone, I don't have a job so it's a little bit different. More like trying to be sensible. Then again, knowing how to spend your money helps keep you from going hungry.

I just took a look, and the factory Toyota boot is still available brand new!

58808-17010-11 - $34.80 - Cover sub-assy, shifting hole

I know the description is funny, but that's beside the point. This is definitely the shift boot for a MkI with a manual transmission. We can only get it in black, but we can definitely get it!

Okay...

So TE, what would be my discount plus shipping out the door for me to 90028 if I'm a new member here? Also, does this one come complete so that I can just take out the old one an install it or do I have to put that square wire on it myself? Just curious since you have no pictures. Oh yeah, my interior is all black so I'm fine with that. Thanks.

You will have to un-clip the square retaining clip. That's what holds the boot inplace. It's not hard at all.

When I quote prices, generally I'm quoting your price. Toyota's suggested list price is $44.53. We don't charge sales tax, and this can ship these for about $5 on Priority Mail, so you're looking at $39.80 shipped.

It does come with basically everything that attaches to the boot (retaining ring, etc). I'll attach a picture below.

We don't have online ordering, so you just call me. You can dial the 800 number on my banner ad or you can call me directly at (541)736-3221. Thanks!

800

Hey, can you post that 800 number. I don't see it anywhere, you're long distance for me. Also, do you have those two plastic pieces/covers that go in front of the headlights and how much are they? Okay they go on the hood, but cover that hole between the front bumper and the headlight. Thanks.

You may just not be able to view the banner ad in my signature. The toll free number is (800)888-6305. If you get an automated answer, follow the prompts to the parts department and ask for me. If a live person answers, ask for Aaron in parts, or ask to be forwarded to extension 3221, which is my phone. I am normally at work from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM Pacific time, Monday through Friday.

The other parts you're looking for are commonly referred to as eyebrows. They don't attach to the hood, but rather to the rear edge of the front bumper skin, along the front edge of the headlight doors. I can still get them, but only in black:

54125-17011-01 - $45.94 - Protector, retractable headlamp, RH
54126-17011-01 - $45.94 - Protector, retractable headlamp, LH

Thanks efx!

Thanks for checking...

I'll have to pass on those eye brows and leave that open. I like the name though. It almost looks the same until you look at it really close. You're right about where they go too. Been working on my clutch cylinder and well, now it sits lower. I hate changing that thing. I just replaced the inside I got from another old car. Believe it or not, the guys that do the smog always mess it up. I've noticed it always leaks after every time I have gone there. They know my dad, but I will have to change place. I hate going there. Some people just have a freaking elephant foot I guess. Just out of curiosity, did Toyota ever upgrade these on the mr2? Those seals just don't seem to last for some reason. I go easy on my car all the time, but this is one part I have always hated on this car. I have changed the whole cylinder other times too with the same results.

That's not normal. Are you using OEM parts or aftermarket replacements? Some of the hydraulic stuff out there is really low-grade, particularly from the discount chains like AutoZone, Checker/Schuck's/Kragen or O'Reilly's, Pep Boys, etc. That stuff just does not seem to last; it's built to sell at a low price, not last a long time.

No...

Not OEM. Just an autoparts place.

That might help explain the short lifespan. The quality is just not always there.

What year vehicle is that image from , and does it make any difference?
