RPM to MPH

3.000 RPM's = 65 MPH
or
4.000 RPM's = 87-88 MPH

Both numbers in 5 gear, is that about right?

not very worry but I read of owners doing mid 30's to 40's on a gallon so made me wonder since mine get constant 25 mpg every fill up

What about my car making a superchager or electric car noise every once in a while? lol my car has a 5 sfe engine & sometimes makes a cool sounding noise.sounds kinda like the road warrior when he press the button.it happens once in a blue moon but when it does it last a while.

I send your Q to a mind reader, she said: engine will blow up in the 6 bluemoon, engine is 5 SFE (short for safe)

My SC seems to get about 20.5 mph per 1000 rpm, so I am at 61.5 mph at 3K rpm and 82 mph at 4K rpm. The NA will be at higher rpms at the same speeds.

Riding in high gear on low rpm will get better mileage but fouls plugs faster. I mean you don't want to ride around going under 2500 RPMs. You'll get alot better mileage if you use 5th gear when going 55+. Of course you won't sound like you're destoying your engine. As for the sound, is it when you are slowing down? It may be the tranny whining.

I've heard throwout bearings make a weird noise. I'm only 19 and I dont have much experience with that but from what I've heard they do make noise when they go bad. Maybe?

John
you seems to have mastered your SC

mine is a blend and a foster child so DNA is not available. so appears my engine goes slightly relaxed at highway speeds which I like, thanks.

also PM send

could the electric noise be the vent fan for the engine compartment?

My Google Map

Just something to think about, your speed to rpm ratio will change with different sized tires and wheels.

Yes and I was just looking at different speeds vs RPM for my V6 I didn't get how the rpm was all out of whack for the speed I was doing I was revving lower than I should at 120mph in the end it hit me like a wet fish that my tranny is not an s54 it's an s53 from a celica with different ratios explains why it is different after I blew my box. I'll post some of my numbers dunno if they are 100% right but it is still good for comparison note that 6th is reverse and the tyre size I entered is 205/50/15 which is what I'm running.

The e153 I dunno if I got the right ratios I got it off some website because I couldn't find it on the wiki the rest seem not far off. All in mph.

S54

S53

S51

e153

That is partially incorrect, the actual speed will change but the indicated speed will remain the same. The connection between the tranny and speedo is mechanical (cable) and changing tire size won't affect that. Now, if the cops were to point a radar gun at you they would see different speeds depending on how tall or short your tires are but you won't see that on the speedometer.

Your speed, not speedo, to rpm ratio will change, so I am 100% correct. Had I said measured or indicated speed, you would be correct.
