Cool New to Mr2 have questions

I just bought a 85 Mr2 with 93,000 miles engine has no leaks but tried to get it smogged everything passed accept timing, went to get my timing done and after it was set correctly i lost power i couldnt rev match nothing happens when i hit the gas as i down shift and when i push in clutch it goes to 0 rpms and car dies.. so i set timing back high and everthing works again. I checked my Spark plugs and wires there old and cracked and spark plugs are all black looking so what im wondering is, if i replace them think that would clear up the problem? any help would be appreciated i dont have tons of money right now

Welcome aboard!!!

Well, looks like you need to replace your plugs and wires anyway. Retarding the timing was probably a temporary fix. Changes those plugs and wires and set the timing back and see if it fixes the problem.

How come a shop will set timing "correctly" and not telling you whats wrong? did they push the car out of shop?

sorry but if you tell the shop guys you don't have much money to spend they will do as much is need it to get you out of the shop fast.
