actually, you know what would be better? Doing the 7age build with a st or bt head!

Thanks Toyotaspeed 90 for providing your informed opinion. It was refreshing to read something that made sense.
What no one has mentioned is the VVT variable valve timing mechanism would need to be operated by the ECU. That same ECU would have to be fuel mapped, for forced induction. The only answer I could see is a uniquely modified, and programed DYI EMS. A supercharged 20v is a good idea conceptually, but there'd be a ton of problems and issues to iron out. |

Shooting for 200hp with a silvertop should be easily possible with stand alone plus moving over to map and running low boost. I have seen some epic silvertop projects, usually it is putting 4agze internals in it and putting on a turbo or a 7afe shortblock with the silvertop head and a set of H beam rods + big turbo
. The head flows very well and responds well to most modifications especially intake/exhaust mods. I want to get my silvertop swap underway but I need an ecu first. |

Only if you wanted to run vvt, but i guess thats part of the point of getting a 20v right.
But you could either run the gze ecu and ditch vvt, or go aftermarket ems and program it in. |

I would ditch the stock ecu, there are large gains to be had tuning your engine with supporting mods, stock the engines overfuel to give a margin of safety. A good tuner can lean the cars fuel out for horsepower without damaging the engine. Plus there is a point where the stock ecu is just like "WTF DID YOU DO!!! cannot compute kthxbye"

vvt is a less smart system -- it just requires to be on or off..... in a boosted setup you could just use a hobbs pressure switch to have it activate at a specific pressure
