well a late update would be that eairler this week... probably last weekend i got the 87 auto up and running and checked out so....
well... the auto car is a few hundred pounds lighter now, the motor and trans were dropped yesterday. Spent some quality time cleaning the years of grease and dirt off of it with some cleaner and a pressure washer. hopefully it will assist me in staying a bit cleaner next go round. ![]() ![]() ![]() and as always most peoples fav. shot ![]() once again plans have changed i don't really feel like breaking both of these motors and trans. apart to swap out so i think im just going to swap the assemblies... after i spend all the time pulling the trans torque converter and flex off one and clutch and flywheel off the other that is just too much time. so im going to try to keep it simple |

Good job ya'll ! !
Looks pretty good bro.
![]() If you were thinking about going from A/T to M/T and decided against it I think you made a good call. You got enuff on your hands with out a clutch pedal, new ECU and such. Black is pretty cool color for hiding small defects. While the engine is out be sure to do the timing belt, front seals and the water pump, you'll be damn glad you did, trust me, been there, done that. Toyz Raczing BTW in 20 years of racing I have found this gasket sealant to be THE best, it cures in 24 hours so plan accordingly. |

... if i take that right you have nothing to worry about my man that car is not going anywhere; i just like to have room to work
and have no fears about getting them high in the air to have ample room, If i had high enough ceilings i would have put in a twin post lift so it would only take a few minQuote:
thanks for the hint on the #1 from perm. as for the change of mind it was just not to separate the two motors to swap transmissions, instead ill just drop the bluetop and m/t as a complete unit pull the harness and clutch pedal assembly and put the redtop and auto in that chassis so a local can buy it w/o me having to teach him how to drive it... this is going to save me a lot of time looking for parts in the future and the expense of buying a 5spd that i only need for a casing. as for what was the auto car ( the one im keeping) it is getting a blacktop 20v transplant w/ 6spd trans and a te04h just for kicks (mainly b/c its been waiting to go in a car for a year or two now) |

![]() Since then we've picked up a 2003 protege5 for a grocery getter and my 2005 Kawi 636 which I will have to ride to work for a while when my car goes in for surgery But still, the girls love that car. Hows your progress on the two new girls? still cleaning out gunk? The exterior's are looking much better. You gonna make one into a track car or just a nicer than stock daily? |

well im back and had a blast!!!
I finally spent some time out at the over the last two weeks, all tho i found myself not working on the aw11's we did make huge headway on the s14-s14 blacktop sr swap, with that basically waiting on parts i spent a faw hours on the aw's over the last two nights. Some pictures were forgotten but im sure you all know what goes into this stuff well since my last post the 5spd car was put in the air and the motor has been removed as well as the complete interior, rear body harness, front body harness, clutch master cylinder, clutch and brake peddle assemblies, complete clutch line, front and rear sway bars (st bars) and im sure some other things. But none the less its a completely stripped shell. in the last few evenings i have installed the auto motor/trans and rear body harness, swapped all app. specific parts in the rear end of the car. finished stripping the auto chassis ![]() And almost finished up the swapping the m/t chassis over to the auto ![]() ![]() all thats really left is a few lines on the motor, the maf and air box, axles and hooking up the dealer installed cruse; then finish putting the rest of the interior back together and ill have to swap out the ing. lock cylinders on the steering columns so i can keep the keys straight, if i can get some work done tomorrow I will more than likely be driving the "new" auto car out of the shop. wooot Last edited by monopolizedinc; 06-25-2009 at 01:56 AM.. |
