Car will not shift
Guys,
here's the story lol..... I got into the car this morning to goto to work, I stopped at the gas station on the way to work (i live right next to it so its like 100 feet from my house). car drives fine this entire time. get back in car after putting gas into it. and it wont shift. turn off car it goes thru all gears no prob. however once it is running again same problem as before. Now I can drive it if I start it in gear until I need to change gears once I take it out it wont go back in all it does is grind like a mofo. Recent changes made to car 1 month ago... rebuilt the master and clutch slave cylinders. have been working fine. I should also note that I have had grinding while shifting occasionally (before and after the rebuilt of the above parts) and have had to more or less rev match for it to go in gears unlike most cars where you can shift anytime you want as long as the clutch is pushed in. My thoughts... being as though the car will shift fine when its off that says that the clutch and slave cylinders are doing their job and disengauging (or it is engauging the clutch). Could it be my trans just suddenly died? also the car has no fluid loss res is full. any ideas. guys |

check that your slave cylinder is engaging when the car is on. obviously have some one else try to shift it with the car running.

I will check that however just out of curiosity why wouldn't it tho since its all hydraulic.
Seems to me the car running or not shouldnt matter. |

I would think there is more of a load on the clutch with the car running.

sometimes my mk2 grinds in second sometimes it doesn't. i have no clue but maybe theres air in your clutch lines because the gasket on the slave clinder is gone or just need a new slave

Id go and rebleed the hydraulic system, make sure an air bubble isnt hiding out causing you grief.
