The stock 4AGE was not designed for it. You need to upgrade a ton of stuff to get to work. If you a quick and easy boost add a turbo and dial it in at about 5lbs. Any more than that and BOOM!

if you have everything needed, yes it's simple and all bolts on.

i thought you could just throw on a 4agze head and a little wiring to get it to work, but of course not high psi on those stock pistons

You can run 7psi on a stock 4AGE safely. I have seen it numerous times. HKS actually made a supercharger for the MR2. It was designed after Toyota came out with the SCed MR2 to put on the earlier cars so you could have a supercharged motor. They actually do ok with a certain amount of boost but not alot. Also the only big difference in the GZE and GE longblock is the pistons. Toyota made some tough pistons for the 4AGZE and they can handle alot of psi. The rods are the same as the late model blue top rods. I have seen some people quote that the GZE had oil squirters and no USDM GZE has oil squirters EVER. The rods had a dimple in them that helped oil the bores but no squirters.

If you are going to add boost to stock motor then I suggest lowering the compression a bit with a head gasket. Not alot but a bit can help. Too much and it can actually hurt so I would not go more than 1.7mm.

I seen on another forum were a guy built a T25 4AGE with stock longblock with 9.4:1 compression. He used a slightly thinker headgasket, MegaSquirt, and a wideband to get it tuned properly. He ran that car at 10psi for over 30k miles and never had any problems from it. One day he turned the boost up to 14psi and it lasted maybe another 1000 miles. It all depends on what you are after and what you are willing to do.
