Wheel fitment
I did a search and found tons of information for the mk2, but not the mk1. What wheel/tire size can you fit on these cars? Would I be able to fit a 15" with 205/50 Falken Azenis?
I was thinking about going with these rims. (Yes I know they are rotas) 15 ROTA GRID RIM 4X100 CIVIC CRX FIT MR2 LANCER WHEELS:eBay Motors (item 250420526970 end time May-14-09 12:03:07 PDT) A little wider obviously, and less offset, so I'd probably need a spacer, but will it fit under the fender without rubbing? |

That should work OK. I'm running a 205/50x15 rear and a 195/50x15 on the front. Unfortunately they're directional so I cant rotate at all. As I tend to be conservative I would probably use 195/50s all the way around just to be sure. The 195/50x15 are almost identical to the stock 14s in height and just 10mm (just shy of 1/2") wider. The 205/50x15s are a bit taller and close to 1" wider.

Thats cool,
I'd go with 195s, but I'm pretty sure 205 is the most narrow RT-615 tire available. Did you have to space yours at all? Do they clear the fenders ok? |

I'm running MK3 wheels without spacers. None needed on mine. I'm also not really lowered. I'm running Eibachs which only lowered the car about 1/2" (stock springs had probably sagged just a bit).
At 6.5" wide you are 1" wider than stock. The 38mm is close to stock (39mm is stock, i think). So because offset is measured from wheel centerline you gain 1/2". So basically with the wider wheel the the inside of your wheel should be about 1/2" closer to the car (if I'm right about the stock wheel's offset). If I'm right the outside of the wheel would also be 1/2" farther out. So spacers would help the inside but possibly begin to create in issue on the outside. You should be OK with the wheels you linked to without spacers but check when you bolt them before you drive it to make sure. Is the car lowered? If so then that is a factor too. If it's not now do you plan on lowering it? You should consider that too. Personally I would stay with 15s if possible. Both the wheels and tires will be less expensive. |

A 15x6.5 38mm will fit fine without any spacers and will not be any issue with the fenders. It will be fine with the 195s or 205s. I had 15x6.5s 42mm on the car when I got it with 195s, and it was fine. I did put some 205s on the rear for a while and it was also fine.
I run 15x7 33mm now with 215/45/15s and everything fits fine. John |

The car will be lowered about 1.5", I don't want it to rub with full suspension travel. That is what I'm worried about. But if you didn't have a problem with those 215s I should be fine I think.
Thanks! |
