Yes the amp is built in but i don't know how strong it really is. With the right speaker it can be pretty loud.

Try behind the passenger seat, im not that tall so i could probably put it behind my seat

I've seen a ferrari or lambo that has the sub right in between both seats (where the cd storage box thing goes) and it looks sick, some one should custom make them and sell it for the MR2

No. I think what he means is against the back wall.

I actually just put two subs in behind both seats on my MKI. I'd highly recommend the smallest width box you can get and shallow mount subs. I have 2x Rockford Fosgate PS3s, one behind each seat, with the amp under the passenger's side seat.

If you go with 8'' subs you could probably make a bit more room. My seats are fine for me 5' 6'', and my friend, 6' 2'' can still be a passenger in the car, but I'm not sure if he'd be able to drive it tbh.

I used a 6 inch diameter Bazooka unpowered tube behind the passenger seat and put the amp under the seat (4 channel with two bridged for the sw). This tube fits exactly behind the seat and the loss of leg room is minimal. Even can store the T-top on top if you are careful and pad things well.

I don't think you'd get as lucky as me, but i found an old 10" sub+cylinder enclosure for 10 bucks. put my cheap amp behind the passenger seat, just dropped the sub in my front trunk, and the thing bumps pretty damn loud.

I have AAA so no spare required still got storage space available too in the frunk, as well as plenty of t-top space behind the seats.

Yes. Are you using an aftermarket HU and what year is your car?

I found an 8" JL in a tuned JL box for $12 so you beat me by 2 dollars.

Same issue I have..I can put mine behind the passenger seat, and can probably put the other one between the sub and the drivers seat, but i dont know if that will be good for the glass. One does fit in the trunk easily and you could probably make a bracket to hold it securely under the frunk hood.

I'd be interested to know how to wire up a standard under seat sub to an aftermarket HU if anyone knows?

TIA
Alex

What year is your car?

Use the wire from the aftermarket HU that is for powering an amp and connect to the black/red on the stock harness this will turn on the amp with the radio. If you used the stock speaker wires then you should have sound. This is based off of an 86 but i'm pretty sure all MK1's are the same color wires.
