I would go with the first one if you have the money... and then take off the wing and replace it with an OEM spoiler.

The first car ad is a scam... the owner has posted this on mr2oc a couple times... he never listed it on auto trader. Someone else is using his pics to scam. Although I do believe it is for sale (about $4000) it has been reported to auto trader by many people but yet it continues to remain.... not sure why.... and so buy the second.

Is it bad that I like the wing? Its one of the only wings that is aftermarket and kinda fits the styling. Its boxy enough to go with the mk1 lines. If anyone knows where I could get one I might actually think about buying one.

The wing doesn't look functional (although it can be hard to tell just by looking at it). The trouble with a lot of those after market air foils is that they're usually just for show and do little if anything for the car's performance. In fact, they often reduce it. You see a lot of that with this new generation of fwd wannabe sports cars. The owners stick these things on them without a clue about what they're doing. They're strictly shooting for looks to impress people who know nothing about cars. I wouldn't buy car #1 just for that reason. The wing, combines with the exhaust (which looks nothing like any legitimate after market exhaust I've seen for the MK1) makes me wonder what else this person has done to this car that would need to be fixed for the car to perform the way it should.
I'm not saying the stock MR2 can't be improved on, but one of the reasons for the car's success and following is that it's pretty darn close to perfect right off the shelf. |

People remove the rear wing on the mk2's and say it makes no difference. I think they look naked without something. I dont drive fast and my car isnt a show car but something like a wing just makes the car look different from the rest.

I agree with the mk2 looking naked without a spoiler. maybe not a wing though.

Thanks for all the feedback.
Now this is the one I want. lol 1986 Toyota MR2 ~ 5 Speed Coupe and ya it does look naked from the back. I take it the eagle on the center console doesn't come standard. Last edited by crazycorkey; 06-04-2009 at 11:50 AM. |
