my 1st MR2
i bought a 1985 MR2 on Saturday for $800, and there were a few issues... right now, it's idle's at between 500 and 1000 RPM. how can i raise it? and other than that, it runs like a dream for having 143,xxx miles on it. the air cleaner and engine were both disgusting. i bought a replacement air cleaner, spark plugs, and wires today. what are some good air intake kits i can get for it? and does anyone know someone who can make a custom manifold for it so i can put a turbo on it? and what other modifications can i make to make this car scream? and am i better off building exhaust for it, or trying to hunt for a kit for it? ALSO!!!! i need an owner's manual and repair manual for it. one last thing... does anyone have a complete wiring diagram for the stereo?

eBay. If it's an '85, the harness is simple. The pin-outs should be elsewhere on mr2.com |

there is a rubber piece that comes off by the throttle body area that can raise or lower rpm but if its surging there is probably a vacume leak. is the wire harness still in tact? if so just buy an adaptor that can be had for 5-15 dollars depending where you get it. if the wires are cut theres always guess and check

the harness is fine, and it has an aftermarket stereo system, but the speakers rarely actually produce sound, so i'm assuming there is a loose wire somehwere, so i'll redo everything and see if that solves the problem

Got this off another part of the site, didn't open it but it should be the BGB aka the toyota service manual. There might be a better unprotected link somewhere but I just picked the first one I found.

Go with a supercharger instead, it'll be much easier to install since one was made for this car. Watch your sensors when you muck with the air intake, you need those to keep your fuel mix right.

figured out what was wrong with my stereo. someone put a sub amp in it and tried to run it to the speakers, but sucked at wiring sound systems, so i fixed his mistakes. and put a Blaupunkt deck in it that i got from a man named Marvin Heemeyer. google that name
