You're having a run of incredibly bad luck. Most Mk I fuel tanks have a some minor surface rust on the exterior. And hardly any are rusted inside. Widen your search area.

This website has junkyards with online inventories:

Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market

Your luck is bound to change and soon too. Good Luck!

If I'm not mistaken, Toyota still makes them. $256 from DiscountToyotaParts.com. Aaron at Lithia Toyota usually beats them on price though. I'd ask him in the MR2Board Sponsors section of this forum.

I only use them as a reference to make sure I'm looking for the right part. Then I ask in this forum:
Lithia Toyota of Springfield

I've ordered a few parts through Aaron and I couldn't be happier. Great prices on factory parts.

I'm willing to bet that you live on the east coast.

Salted roads is the biggest reason I refuse to live there.

My Google Map

I've heard there is a coating process available for the inside of the tank?

Maybe someone here has some contact with it?

I have a used one I'd sell for $100? I would recommend coating the inside with por-15 but other than that it's in great shape. I've treated my tank with this stuff and can vouch for it... easy to use and very strong

I think I may have a couple tanks available. I can check when I get home if you are interested.
