need some help!!!
I'm looking at buying a 87 mr2. for 1k... here's the deal....
The guy says when the car heats up it starts smoking really bad. He "said" he thought it was the head gasket but when he took it to the shop the mechanic told him he thought it was the deals in the distributor. That once the car started to heat up oil was getting trough the seals (i think he said its three seals) and thats where the smoking was coming from.... which is probable? head gasket, distributor seals, or something else? How hard will it be to fix the possible problems AND for a 87 with a good looking rust free body and good looking but blue interior, is this a good deal? vehicle is stored at one of his other properties and he didn't know the mileage. but said the trans and clutch were great, just the smoking problem. |

Repair
Hello!
The Headgasket is tough/expensive, fortunately symptons favor something else. Personally, I would start with a thorough cleaning, then try to find a leak, OR start with replacing the distributor seals. If the car is sweet otherwise, $1k sounds reasonable. |

it could be the dist seals , look for a noticable leak or staining by the dist.
