Silvertop vs. Gze
O.k so after some quick checking around, and research it looks as if stock for stock the silvertop smashes the 4agze head to head.....so as I navigate the path for more hp from my 88 na Im wondering, 4agte, silvertop, bt, gze, even the 5sfe Ive read would be superior to the gze. I am wondering why anyone would pay for the gze swap, over the others, and how much faster approx. would a silvertop be than a gze?
thanks in advance |

Since when does a silvertop smash a 4agze? 4agze has torque and a broad powerband for a small motor and the 20V are a little more peaky. Side by side the 4agze pulls ahead then the 20V with peak power hauls it in slowly and only if its a completely stock 4agze it doesn't take much to bump a little more power from them. They are pretty much even just the 20V are easy to get in good condition and generally lower mileage and/or unthrashed.
4agze has more potential for turbo cheaper and easier than the 20V as well. You can up the boost with a pulley no problem. The 20V you can do work and make them better but its harder and its all engine unless you turbo it. I'm also not sure about a 5sfe being better they have torque but not hp 130 hp is not huge. I can't see it beating a 4agze. The 3sge (2nd gen on) takes a dump on the 4agze, the 3sgte takes a dump on that, I could keep going. |

Silvertop.. hahaha.. blacktop is at least in the gze league.. somewhat.. lol..
Silvertop is a good 'stock' 4age replacement, not much more. |

"20V are easy to get in good condition and generally lower mileage and/or unthrashed."
well said. that's about the only advantage, both are good, the Z is a, one time, factory pure blood with less horses but lots of low end torque; the 20v is capable if mistreated from take off, he need the revs to shine, the z can go from smooth to scalded ape mood in no time no effort..who disagree never drove a tight SC.. |
