4agte trans question
ive been throwing around the idea of building a auto trans like with a manual valve body for my mr2 this is do to the fact that i have blown up 4 clutch kits in two years the latest was at the track it was a 6000 rpm nitrous launch and the car jump about 3ft and then hit the rev limiter (the 6 month old CLUTCH blow) and dont say get a good or better clutch i tried (xtd ,stg3 act ,bugpack, and that cheap ass autozone kit) and i think it would make it easier to be more consistent does anyone have any info on doing a swap from stick to auto and manual valve body or have done it

I've done this to an old chev T350 box but not an automatic mr2 box it has advantages but it sucks to drive around it breaks loose on changeup and has no engine braking, the auto box also weighs too much imo and if you keep blowing on the line calm down your launches to be more consistant. No point doing 0.2 seconds better but only being able to do it a few times before blowing.
Best suggestion is..............to get a better clutch, an unsprung one of you do a lot of launching. My friend had the same issue, he spent $600 on a clutch and the problem went away rather than spending $200 every week. |
