On the front under the little felt piece in front of the radio is 2 screws. Then along each side there are a few. I think when I take mine out I end up taking the ash tray out. It's been in and out quite a few times I forget details it just happens when I do it.

i did it to fix the lighter. all i had to do was remove the 6-8 screws that were on the sides of the arm rest. then i removed the lil cuby box(2 screws in the main compartment). then i lifted from the compartment end.

Where did you get you TRD shifter and how much? I would like to see pictures once it's installed (if you don't mind). Thanks.

There were no clips in mine either. All screws. Make sure you pull the radio bezel off too, that is hold the front end down.

Once you get the center console out it's pretty much self explanatory from there. You'll see bolts holding the shifter assembly down (4, I think, 12mm or 14mm). Make sure to detach the shifter cables before pulled the base out. Once you have the base out you'll have the pry the shifter out of its socket. There is a small clip in the plastic holding it down, remove that first. You'll likely need some help with the neutral return spring and putting it all back together.

I installed two short shifters, it's super easy.

you don't have to undo the shifter cables as you can just pop the one off and take off the clip for the left side one and unbolt the 4 bolts and drop the assembly, repack the cup with grease while you are in there, it's worth it.

I'll do a write up tomorrow when I lube my shifter cables if you wanna wait.
