I had mice get into my 05 Tacoma after a wild fire in San Diego.
They were climbing the wheels to get to the engine compartment. They may be climbing your wheels to get in through the firewall or rear trunk. I moved the truck into the garage (after cleaning it out) and did the following. First, use the sticky traps (larger the better) and put peanut butter about the size your pinky tip in the middle of the trap. If you use smaller sticky traps, the bigger mice can sometimes move the traps around or get out (not without leaving a leg or some droppings). Put the larger peanut butter sticky traps around the tires, about two per each tire, one underneath the car and out side. What this will do is capture them coming out of the car and going in. Don't be surprised if you catch a bunch at first then dwindle off. Also, this might attract other mice from outside, so keep a nice stash of stick traps. Snap traps work as well and can be reset, just watch your toes. Also, add additional peanut butter sticky traps at the garage door openings, near the walls and near cracks from the outside. This way over time, you can see where they are coming in, and where they are entering the car based on where they are sticking the most. They are a nuisance, but you can rid them like I did if you can create the traps as I did. Good Luck! A. |

As far as the sticky gel traps go, I used to live in another house in an area with a lot of mice. I have two indoor cats but even that didn't discourage some mice from running around in my basement and kitchen. So I put some of the gel traps around. Didn't catch more than one mouse but the cats got stuck in them several times. It is quite a chore to get that sticky gel off of a cat's fur. |

Most rodent poisons are coumarin based. They kill the animals by inhibiting formation of blood clotting factors so they prevent the blood from clotting. The animals essentially bleed to death. This process can take several days to start working after ingestion since the already present clotting factors have to be used up. Since the rats/mice start becoming dehydrated through blood loss they get thirsty. Proponents of poison use claim that this thirst will drive the rodents to leave the home to seek water. Anyone who has used this stuff knows that most of the rats/mice still die somewhere inside (usually where you can't reach them) and stink very badly. For more info see How Does Rat Poison Work? I always knew the mk1 was a ratty car lol. but on a serious note if mice starts to get in i'll get worried about the harness they may have started chewing on. curse these buggers maybe you can invest on buying a snake but i guess thats also bad since they too can get into your car and mess sheit up by dying inside

I must have some very lazy snakes here because there are at least two red racers, a few gopher snakes, and a sidewinder that I have spotted on various occasions in and around my yard. I guess I should buy them some Viagra. That's the cure for a lazy snake, right?
