MICE!!!
Little bastards are starting to get into my car, nibbling on carpeting, seat foam, and who knows what else. I'm also finding my dog's food inside, which makes for a bad smell on a hot day. Anyone know the route by which mice would be making it into the cab? I'm trapping as many as I can inside the garage, but I know they are still making it in the car.

mice don't need much room to get in so it could be anywhere. put some sticky traps in the car at night.

Kinda off topic but I found one in my frunk. It chewed a few wires and It died. It was there for a while before I found it. Probably way before I bought the car. It was so gross though. Hope you get it worked out. I hate them little buggers.

Several years ago the heater blower stopped working in my Nissan pickup. I started working on it only to find the tail of a mouse hanging out between two of the vanes. I wonder how many RPM's of the blower he lasted?
Sorry, but I can't really help you with your mouse problem. They say that a field mouse can fit through a hole the size of a dime so you are going to have to check the whole car over very closely. |

Probably through some rust hole. You should look over any rust.

If your mouse looks like this, you might just want to let her ride shotgun

As far as the mice go, I've suffered with this in the past with a few other cars, and unfortunatly there really isn't much you can do. I've heard irish spring soap (they don't like the smell) but it didn't work for me. My theory is once they nest, they'll always smell themselves and think it's a safe place regardless of what you do. I would do your best to set up traps where you store the car and try to prevent what you can. I've never had much luck with decon/sticky traps/regular traps/soap/ultrasonic sound crap... mice are a real pain in the butt. Good luck man. |

Love that mouse! But just make the garage your cats new home. I got a cat that just lays around, but has really big ass claws and teeth. He has scratched the heck out of me when I play with him, so they'll be gone before you know it. He doesn't look very scary does he, but no tiger does either, hahaha...freaking cat bit me a bit harder yesterday too so yeah, don't mess with the cat cuz they will hurt you. For some reason he likes to stick himself in boxes...go figure. If you don't have a cat and don't want him all over the car which they also do, put the dog there, our dog likes to play with the mice but he will just kill them and play with them. Crazy dog, he's old, but when the cat was near got pretty aggressive so don't leave your guard down. Animals will jump at the chance if there is one to do what they do best. Although the dog came in once and the cat backed him out of the house, so there you have it. The dog is twice as big too.

Fortunately for me this car has been a SoCal desert vehicle its whole life and has ZERO rust. I've definitely stepped up my trapping campaign against the little sh*ts. I'm thinking the primary entry points would be somehow through the ventilation system or up through the center console (are there any gaps between the fuel tank and the body that they could squeeze through?

Inside, not much considering it was a pain to find where to route wires through. The only two places that I can think are the wheel wells and the engine or front of the car, but still, that's pretty sealed as far as I can tell. Even if you had rust under the car the carpet would be chewed up and you would know where they came in through, so look under and see if there are any other holes around the car. Other than than that, someone is playing a really mean joke on you by putting mice in there...haha...

try putting dryer sheets in the car, mice do not like them and it will also be a good airfreshener.

If they could get in the Frunk, they could probably find a way into the passenger compartment. Perhaps through the steering shaft hole.
I think getting into the trunk would be easier for them. There's lots and lots of holes in the rear trunk area. There are 4 four drain plug holes in the interior floor. There is a plate that has the gas gauge and fuel gauge wires running through it. If that's gone, they could get in through the gas tank tunnel. When I got my MK I from N. California a number of years ago . . . it was infested with Black Widows. THREE OF THEM (females). I actually touched one or two of them, but managed not to get bitten. I must have a bit of New Zealander in me. I taste so bad, that even Black Widows won't bite me. {This last was for 328 FTW.} |

fuel level sending unit/fuel pump wiring under center console would be a perfect entry point plus they could live between the tank and the bottom panels. every time you hit a bump while driving there is probably mice falling out on the road.

When I was storing my car outside, I had them nesting in the frunk, rear trunk and passenger compartment. Now that I have the car in the garage, I have only noticed their presence in the passenger compartment. A little rat poison has almost fixed that problem.
