Check the 20v swap section of the board for details, but here's a short rundown:

1) A COMPLETE 20v engine. Make sure it has ECU, Coil, Ignitor, and at least a cut engine wiring harness. You can get them off Ebay for fairly cheap.

2) If you are swapping a blacktop, you should get or make sure you have a C52 trans, so the starter can be mounted on the intake side and it won't interfere with the exhaust manifold.

3) Send your cut wiring harness and MR2 harness to mr220v, and pay him to make you a working wiring harness. Don't try to do it yourself, it isn't worth the pain and suffering. mr220v does excellent work, and it's well worth the price he charges to avoid headaches.

4) A few hoses and whatnot will need to be modified to fit. This isn't incredibly difficult, and you should be able to figure it out without buying new stuff. Also, the throttle cable isn't quite long enough, but if you move some of the brackets holding it under the car, you can get it to reach.

That is disgussed in the 20v section. Yes there is a difference. The bt is newer but often live a more abused life. The bt also has a few more horses. I'm not sure if an extra 10 horsepower is worth an extra $2-300 more to you.

^As usual, it all comes down to how the motor looks under the valve cover. In general there seems to be more sludgy Bt's out there for some reason. With either motor, you need to be looking at its internal condition before you buy.

Worth the 10 extra hp? Plenty of people spend lots more than that on aftermarket parts and get less of a return. It just depends on whether it's important to you and whether you mind having a somewhat more peaky motor.

I went with the BT largely because I hate AFM's. I know they aren't really *that* restrictive, but I don't like them anyway. That, and the lighter engine internals + the extra 5hp is nice. To be honest though, the car could still really use another 40-50hp. I got a bit spoiled by my mkii turbo with 250+hp.

At least make a paperweight out of the piston, and a living room table by putting a piece of glass on top of the block.

Sounds like you need a beams 3sge. Funny thing is that they are about the same price as the 20v blacktop.

People actually do it a lot, it looks cool if you sandblast the block first then clearcoat it. Leave the bores shiney and glazed, whack some glass on it and whamo instant coffee table

Just quite a bit more difficult to install.

Really though, I think I'm going to leave the MR2 scene. I haven't had as much fun with the mki as I thought I would, and money is getting *really* tight, so I'm probably going to have to sell it anyway. I think once I finally have some spending money again, I'll be getting involved with a little more exciting a project.

It'd be a business address in 97477. It's been a while and I've forgotten what those manifolds weigh. I know they cast iron manifold is 17-18 pounds boxed and padded, so the tubular 20V header must be what, 8-10 pounds packed?

my stock m2 4age thew the rod out the other direction, put a hole in the pan and ripped up the baffle. It sat in my garage after the breakdown cuz i didnt even feel like dealing with it...figured it was just a bearing.....last week I finally took a look at it...jacked up the left side....oil came out of the middle of the right side of the pan (drivers)...what the heck it isnt leaking out of the side...oh yea its a hole......so I took a day, stripped everything i could off the block, put a jack under the transmission and remvoed all but passenger side engine mount. unjacked..engine didnt move?! o.0....so i jacked the other side took that bolt out...wiggled and jacked..got pissed....so i jumped up into the engine bay and jumped on the engine...just the bottom of the intake manifold was stuck on the bottom of the trunk wall, a couple wiggles and jumps it was out...no engine hoist !!! one night

Any news here? Fingers are crossed that you're sliding this thing back together. And I'm still interested in that extra blacktop header if it's available.

Oh yes, I forgot all about this thread. The car's been running for a few weeks now. I do have the header, and I would like to get rid of it, as well as some other 20v parts as well.
