What do u guys think its worth?

I sold my 85 about a yr ago and have been kickin my self in the ass every day because of it. i have finally found another its a 1986 with 165k on it 5 speed, no power anything but looks like it just came off the show room floor(cleanest one i have ever seen). Is it some kind of special edition or something? i have never seen 2 tone paint on one It was traded in to a dealer for the original owner and the 2nd owner has had the car for a few months now. here are a few pics. what do u guys think it is worth.

Same color as mine. I said I never seen any my color once then after that I started seeing a bunch. I will tell you what mine was when I got it and you can go from there. I paid $1700 for mine. The windshield top has rust and it leaks. Behind the back wheel there is rust. The body is otherwise straight and pretty decent. The car had 145,000 on it when I got it. My car is an 87 that one is an 85. The 87 was a little bit more of an upgrade over the 85. Figure $2000 on that car if not more. Take it for a test drive and check for the normal things. 5th gear popout etc.

the high mileage throws me off, but im assuming its worth at least 5k in that condition, of course you'd have to find the right buyer.

there is no way anyone would pay 5k.

as for the car listed maybe between $2000-$2500.

$2,000 is stiff for me, but if someone wants to pay it, go for it. But keep in mind, if it gets wrecked the day you buy it, the insurance won't give you what you bought.

The paint scheme is "sherwood edition". I had one, but it was too rusty to stay on the streets. Interior was flawless, ran/drove, and only had 95,000 miles... I paid $150

That is one nice 2 if I've ever seen one. The two tone screams "by it now!" Give the seller $2200 and run!!!

Muffin Man is right, $2000 - $2500 depending on what's going on under the hood.

If the engine starts up perfectly (and idles correctly) and you've looked under the oil cap (and it looks clean), check that off your list.

Take it for a drive an make sure the struts and ball joints are all tight. Suspension is not a deal breaker but it could lower the price of the car.

Lastly, make sure there is no 5th gear pop which is very common on the 85 and 86.

If any of the above mentioned items are shot, start lowering your price from the $2500 price point.

start at $2200, and check everything out, and take like $50 off for anything you find wrong with it. missing screws/bolts, things like that, the small things

I sold an 87 with much higher mileage 225k for $3000.

Such a desirable car, at such a low price means that it could be snapped up any minute.

Jump on it.

If I went with that trying to sell my car, I'd owe the buyer a bunch of money. I was going for weight savings. Yah thats it

Either it had a BT motor swap or you found one hell of a sucker man.

I guess it depends on the area too.

thank u all for ur input. I went and test drove the car last night and all though is it very clean and nice it does have a little bit of rust near the rear driver side marker light and the exhaust is starting to rust a little and rattle(cannot see in pics). Also has a small crack in the dash above the clock. The engine starts right up and purrs, could probably use a full tune up to be up to par, a/c blows ice cold. car has an alpine cd player with ipod hook up and small amp/sub behind passenger seat and new speakers in the dash runs smooth down the road, no popping out of 5th and everything on the car works and feels very stable. The seller will not budge from $2200 tho, he said he actually thought it was priced a little low for the condition. u guys still think it is worth that much? will i ever get my money back if i were to sell it?

Buy it, before I do. I'm like a day's drive from San Francisco.

Get prices for the things it needs and if you still don't have a problem with paying him $2200 then buy it. IMO i think you could get a better deal if it has some issues but that's just me.

p.s. don't seem too excited about getting it or he will know your hooked. just leave him your number and tell him the price may too high for you and i'm sure he will be calling you. unless he is a board member and has been reading this.

From the pics, perfect body, no rust, great paint, near perfect interior--that would be worth some dough even if you had to do major engine work. If the engine's great and the AC is cold, I'm guessing somebody would pay $3,000. If I had it I would not sell it even if somebody offered 3500. Pay the man his $2200, he's not likely to budge.
