n/a intake
well i got to thinkin and the s/c intake has a dog leg in one of the runners, so would it be possible to use an n/a intake with the s/c. iv thought about it for a few days and i dont see why it wouldnt the only thing that would be different would be that the throttle body would be after the s/c instead of before it. Now in some cases i know of a few people that have a switch to turn there s/c on and off, well to my conclusion with the throttle body being before the s/c on the factory intake setup, the butterfly wouldnt allow the s/c to suck in more air when it is turned on all the time. With the throttle body being after the s/c if the n/a intake manifold was used then you could have the s/c on all the time if you choose to do so making usable boost from start to stop, oh and you would have to put a blow-off valve in there somewhere to relive pressure between shifts just like a turbo'd car. Now if im wrong please let me know, i would also like to know if this has been tried before, because i would hate to go out and buy everything that i need to do this and it not work.

You can just slap the n/a throttle body on there and nothing needs to change as such just a little modifying needed, there is some messing around because the n/a throttle body is actually larger so it actually yields a little more power up top. I will see if I can find the webpage on it but the basic jist is get an n/a throttle body and then take material off the J-pipe going down to match the new bigger TB, then you flip the TPS over and bolt it on then pipe up your new larger throttle body. I've done it on one of my motors made it more responsive which was good.
You can also grind out the sharp corners in the dog leg, or did you mean remove the J-pipe going down and replace that? Because that is really not necessary although a bigger TB does indeed help. |
