Thumbs up Future Plans for the MK1 Section!!!

Hey MK1 Owners,
I've noticed as of late the mk1 section here is kinda slow, kinda disorganized, and... well... kinda pathetic. I want to make an attempt at improving it. For those of you who don't know me, I'm all about the mk1. I love it to pieces. I love meeting other people who love their cars as much as I do. With that in mind, I want to make this forum friendly, helpful, insightful, and cutting edge.

I am in the process of making some organizational changes. I plan on having a general maintanence area so that its easy to get all sorts of repair and maintanence questions organized and easy to respond to. Also, I want to have NA and Forced Induction threads so, again, its easy to get your question answered. Also, I want to start an FAQ so some people's basic questions can get answered. I'd like to keep the main MK1 area open for general discussions, and start using the new sub-forums as a way to keep stuff organized.

The last thing I want to say is that our mk1 community is pretty dead. I want to challenge all of you to invite new members to mr2board, and I also encourage all of you to be active, talkative, and friendly. I forsee this being a wonderfully helpful area for mk1 owners, and I look forward to talking with everyone.

Thanks for the help, Dylan !

The MKI community should be the strongest of them all, the cars are the cheapest, easy to come by, and leave the most money left over for go-fast parts.

It seems maybe some owners are intimated by the big beautiful MKII.

Let's try and change that. Each and every MR2 generation has a very strong point.

Cool! One day I hope to get an MK1 again. I know I will be reading up in here myself.

I've made a gazillion mistakes in modding my 87 Mk I over a period of years. Learn from my mistakes: save time and money!

CPU Zapper: I've swapped out struts so many times (and even tried Coil-overs) that I've come up with two tricks which really save knuckles, and backaches. The first is assemble (compress) the front springs on the strut OUTSIDE of the car. Then just hang it in, when assembled. Second: for the rear springs, no need to compress the springs with a special tool. Just put a jack under the rear hub and use the jack to do the needed compression.

By the way, I'm just 200 miles South of you. I attended Zymosis autocross event a couple of years ago.

Mr. Moua:

Finally another refugee from the "other" board recognized me! Thanks much! I'm selling the Mk I NA with the twin side vents soon. I have another 87 with an 4agze transplant in it. The transplant car needs a lot of TLC, $ and work. I'm gonna start a thread here on my SC14 upgrade in a few minutes. I still have those pictures, I'll put one up in my garage gallery real soon. Thanks for the photos again. By the way, this new board really rocks! This board makes me feel like I live in a free country!

Hi; I have 2 MKI's. An 85 and an 87. The 85 is going to be twin charged and the 87 is stock. My daughter got hit on the drivers door a couple of years ago with the 87 so it doesn't really to pretty.
I'm going to be looking for an 85 next year so mine can be used as a parts car because it's pretty rusty. It'll be a good project for the twincharger engine to get everything to fit before it goes in a good body.

I remember the twin vent MK1. Wasn't your fuel filler in the engine bay? I haven't been around since 02 when I parted out my 85 GZ and went the Volkswagen way. Now that I'm back with an 86 I hope to bring some daily life into this forum. I have a bunch of project stuff im doing that I will have to take pics and show all

Glad to see there is still life in AW11 owners!

It's a pretty good forum, but some people already are on Mr2oc.com, and they go to the forum they are used to. I always check both forums though.

I also can help too if anything is needed.

Yeah i really like this forum, just that I don't see much activity, technical data, and well, i'm new to the world of MR2's and I don;t know anyone with them on my side of town! (anyone from the south bay in california? hehe) I have a friend who has an AW11 and SW20, but ever since i moved over here, hes pretty far so i lost my "connection" with the mr2 world with him.
