I agree that that interior doesnt look good on the red car and black would look much better. But, I do love the tan interior on my greenish mr2.

1. About 100K miles less 2. Southern car - potential not one spec of rust. You're located where it snows 4-5 months of the year. 3. Paint is original and shines like it rolled of the showroom floor. Can't tell by the pictures you posted on your CL ad. 4. He took better pictures ![]() 5. His is an 88', yours is an 86' (see differences between years) 6. Garage kept for most 99.99% of its's life (who knows if that's true or not but it looks like it has). |

Closer than 200,000 miles. The one in the first link has 42,000 the second has 225,000 on it. Nothing wrong with a 225,000 mile car, my 88 project has that many and it looks good, just not 42,000 mile good.

KBB doesnt mean anything to our cars. I paid 1700 for an 87 without the power stuff and steel wheels. These cars are worth what someone will pay. I dont think anywhere near 7 grand but maybe 4-5 if he finds the right seller. That's even pushing it though.

KBB in Texas doesn't mean crap unless your the DMV now.
My two mr2 wouldn't add up to a pile of dog SHIOT in the condition they were in when I bought them. I paid $500 for each and had a receipt from ther sellers. TX DMV now charges you taxes on 80% of KBB value. I had to pay $150 per car! What a rip off. What does this all mean? What MR3 said. It's one of us crazy sons of biotchs that'll buy the darn thing (not at $7K though). If I had the money, I'd offer the dude $5K max. Even though it's immaculate, its still over 20 years old. $7000 gets you a very nice MK2 JDM turbo that someone else has done all the work on. |

well of course its just a giude, i understand that. thats all kbb is. but the reason most of us bought an mk1 is price. very few people in their right mind would spent that much on an mk1. i'd go 4500 or so with him but 7k...that one custum turbo setup is here for like 9 right? i mean 7 is beein a bit hopeful. with such low milaged, whoever buys it will def be happy for years haha

oh no doubt, def not arguing with that. i agree completely. as far as i'm concerned, that seller is "pie-in-the-sky" hopeful about getting $7k! but if that's what it's worth to him/her, then more power to them. |

There are a few pretty clean low miles ebay cars that have popped up and are up now that are very reasonably priced in my opinion... clearly the bad economy is even showing in the cheap mk1 market! There are a pair of one owner red cars up for sale right now (both less than $4K if I'm not mistaken) and a couple of low mileage white cars too if I'm not mistaken as well as a low mileage black car. All pretty low prices. I wish I had some spare cash right now, I'd buy me a nice clean original hardtop! Or maybe a factory hardtop no spoiler car but not a base model interior (that's gotta be a rare combo). One of them is optioned that way I'm almost positive. Anywho, just thought I'd chime in.

low mileage isn't necessarily a good thing on an old car. imagine you buy the car and start using it as a DD. you could get lucky and get to 200k with no problems but you could also kill that thing in the first couple months.

7K may not be too nutty if it really is pristine. 40K, garaged, original owner? I'd go look. Restoring to that condition would be $$+work. And don't under-value the NA. My SC is faster, but more worrisome mechanically and not as fun to rail corners as my NA.
In just the last two years these are more difficult to find. The communities of driving enthusiasts and collectors is not shrinking with the supply of both junk and clean cars. Besides being an efficient, comfortable daily driver, the AW11 is a distinct style and incredible driving experience. IMO one of the greatest "mass" market cars ever available. I think the values will increase. |

You can count on it... its simple economics of supply and demand. These cars are wrecked, parted or sent to the scrapper all the time -- parts are not hard to find right now and neither are these cars.... but as supply decreases, the value increases, and as the demand increases as well, and the value increases even more. I don't see how there will ever be a point where a MR2s value would decrease in the future as long as the condition of a car didn't change for the worse.
