Im a MR2 owner again!!!!
well, i've had four MR2's over the years. my first was a really nice 86. purple with chrome rims when i was 16. then i got a completly stock 85 in near perfect shape. (I traded a haro bike and 400 bucks for it haha). I also bought a wrecked one for parts along the way.
My fourth came when i purchased a JDM import right hand drive 87 MR2 while stationed in the UK a couple of years ago. Unfortunantly a coworker totaled it while i was home on leave. Well as of today I am once again a MR2 owner! I had to drive almost four hours, switch vehicles a couple of times to get uhaul to rent me a damn tow dolly but i finally have it home! I'm the proud new owner of a 1988 T-top SC MR2! Its 100% complete with only one very small rust spot above the wheel well. Interior is in pretty good shape considering the mileage which is 318K!!!!! After getting it here, oil change & filter, fresh gas, new spark plugs, battery, and some banging on the locked up starter we got it to crank. Needs a new starter and fuel pump, as the car had been sitting for about six years.... It's got a rod bearing knocking when it hits about 4k RPMs and the guy said it needed a clutch SO, I'm going to be scowering the forums to find all the info i can..... I need to just pull the engine and rebuild it along with everything else while i have it out. I would be more than happy to post some pics if someone can tell me how. I picked up this 88 SC for 700.00. I know it needs alot of work but is that still a good deal? |

It does need a rebuild. We got it to crank yesterday and it has a rod bearing knocking.... i would like to take it out and rebuild the engine along with everything else that i would never be able to get to otherwise. i.e. supercharger, etc.
I've made another post on the subject asking for help but sadly no replies... its titled "need info for 4agze rebuild". I want to really do this car right but i can't find any where that sells, a rebuild kit with rods/crankshaft etc.... I really thought info would be easier to come by. I'm getting a bit disheartened. |

Just set up a photobucket account. They are free then use the IMG tags. Copy them from photobucket then paste them in your reply and pics will show.

Looks good. The iphone camera seems to make mr2's look pretty good. I know it makes mine look decent lol.

you know the 2 i found in the yards might have been an 88. i needed the front pass fender and it has paint issues like you're describing. i wonder if someone cheaped up on the clear coats for that year...

Not sure if they came with clear. My 88 I think was repainted so I cant say how it was before. My red nice but it has a few imperfections. Dings and rust got the best of it so it's nowhere near perfect. Good enough for me.
