Before and After.....1987 MR2

I got the MR2 back today from paint and put on the new wheels that I got from MR2Tim....(Thanks again Tim) and it's hard to believe it's the same car.

Here is a before and after shot.

Ok, I'm getting old.....I misread the earlier post that it was the "old" rims.

Those would appear to be some type of original toyota steel wheel, they have toyota stamped on all and the center caps. I just assumed they were stock in 1987 on this car.

I can make you a great deal on these beautys............

Those are base model wheels that came on some years... not sure what all years but I know they could come on an 88 (I've seen them on a few). Sexy wheels

lol. Anywho, the new ones look very nice and the car is all the same color now... and it looks very nice! Congrats on the fresh paint/wheels combo! Looks very bueno! By the way, since that's a hardtop those wheels definately may have come on your car. If it doesn't have power options there is even a better chance. They came on a lot of base option cars that didn't get sports seats and all that jazz... but I've seen them on some t-top cars as well, so they may have just been the cheaper/cheapest factory wheel option.

I'm not interested, as I already have two sets of rims for my '2, but the stock alloys afaik only look like the ones that I paid over $200 to have shipped from where I got the car (I really love the stock rims though)

Looks kinda like an 86 with 85 black spoiler and an 87+ scoop and 87 front lip to me.

Paint looks good BTW. I like the black spoiler and the black molding... not sure about the black side skirts. I would have kept that body color and
I personally think you should have continued side molding on to include the front and rear side marker lights like the 85, however.

Looks really great for the most part. The black wheels are a bit much for me, but maybe they would grow on me. I would have suggested painting the front spoiler lip satin black to match the rest of the sideskirt, mudflap trim. That would make it look very sharp, with great contrast, since the rest of the trim is mostly MKIa era. The newer front spoiler sort of stands out in an odd way with all that other black trim. When I replaced my '87 front spoiler I left it black to match the sideskirt area (MKIa type), and mudflaps, plus I just liked the contrast it offers (super red against black). I always wanted to paint the rear spoiler satin black as well, but have never gotten around to it. Always liked the champagne color and tried to get it for the '85 that I bought new. Ended up with silver, but I grew attached to it.

I do like the black vs grey theme. The non-visible lug nuts/center cap don't distact from the lines of the car.
