Yes right above the transmission. I took the housing before you took it. There are hoses on the drivers side of the engine that go into the housing then from the radiator back into the housing.

Holy smoked turkey Batman... that was one heck of a photo explaination!! I need to save those pics for future referance with actual items in them instead of tiny junk b/w pics in a Haynes manual! Thanks anyway and I didn't even have any questions, lol!

That's Ron's Pbase photo site. I about have the table of contents of his gallery memorized now.
Its truly amazing what he has done in terms of contributions to the MR2 community with his photo documentation. Hundreds of photos and many of them took A LOT of time to setup, edit and document, like the ones above. I love how he used blocks to hold up the cooling system and I think you can see someone is standing there in the side holding the heater core, and he used MSPaint or something to blot out the person ... if you look carefully you will see it. All here: aw11mr2's Photo Galleries at pbase.com |

Great posting YellowJacket! Sean as you can see from pic. 2 the water pump pulls on the thermostat and if it's weak can suck it open when you rev to full throttle. Your temp gauge will drop like a rock and heater will blast cold air (in the winter).
While they are a few dollars more I wouldn't recommend anything but Toyota. I have a lot of non "Toyota" parts on my car, but the thermostat will always be OEM. |
